Why did he paint it in the morning? Being a fishing village, it's unquestionably true that fishermen went fishing. Vincent had to wake early to create this piece while the boats were still on the dock. He actually did not finish painting it before the ships left again. He, therefore, completed the work in a studio. Fishing boats on the beach at Saintes-Maries comprises of several boats docked at the side of a sea, some in the water as they sail towards the beach and a sky with citrus clouds. This painting is a clear indication of the talents Vincent possessed. He balanced the colors of the sea and sky, which is challenging to get, mainly because there is a thin line between the two. The yellow sandy beach is so attractive and, together with the other colors in the painting, is an impressionist.
Van Gogh enjoyed worked alone. But, after several years of self-training, he had to seek engagement from other experienced artists. During the adventure, Gogh met Anton Mauve, who used to paint landscapes. He worked with him for some time and then decided to visit museums to reach other painters. During this period, Vincent acquired extensive knowledge of oil painting and did several arts using the techniques. In 1883, he bounced back to the satisfaction of being alone and joined some peasants in the northern Netherlands.
The people and nature in the northern Netherlands inspired him to draw landscapes, seascape, and still images. Vincent took lessons from a group of impressionist artists, including Camille, Henri, and Georges Seurat. It is probably from this experience that he painted fishing boats on the beach at Saintes- Maries bearing he did the painting in the same period he was trained-1888. Although Vincent sold one painting in his lifetime, his work continues to inspire other artists. Some painter like Maurice de Vlaminck, de Kooning, and Paul Klee typically redid some jobs, similar to that of Vincent. Other artists who adopted the artistry technique from Vincent include Pollock, Bacon, Derain and Matisse.
Vincent created Fishing boats on the beach at Saintes-Maries on canvas using oil. It's a beautiful art to look at while hanging on a wall of a bedroom or restroom. The combination of the colors on this painting is magical, and interestingly a blended impressionist.
