Vincent van Gogh was born on the 30th of March, 1853 in a smal village in the Dutch province of North Brabant.

Large families were common at that time, and the Van Goghs were no different with Vincent being the eldest son among siblings Theo, Cor, Elisabeth, Anna and Wil.

Parents Reverend Theodorus van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carbentus provided their children with a rigid but stable childhood, supported by a strong religious narrative.
